Online exams from now on ILIAS exam instance
Since the summer semester, a new ILIAS exam instance is available at KIT. All lecturers and students have access with their KIT account to the independent platform.
The introduction of the separate exam instance brings several advantages. On the one hand, the update periods for the teaching and examination rooms on ILIAS can now be carried out separately, minimizing potential disruptions. In addition, the separate instance contributes to higher security both in terms of performance and attempted cheating.
For instructors and students, little changes in terms of familiar processes. Exam information, registration procedures, etc. will continue to be mapped via the Campus Management System (CMS). The creation of ILIAS rooms, which are assigned to the respective exams, will continue to be done in self-service directly from the CMS. The transfer or entry of registered students into the rooms as well as the access via event information in the CMS also remain unchanged. Only the creation of exam rooms changes, as this is now done on the new instance.
All materials and information that you have used so far to set up the examination rooms can now be found on the new examination instance in the "Materials for examiners" area. As usual, all the required documents are available there.
The ILIAS exam instance also serves as a platform for digital exams in the KIT pool rooms. There, online and upload exams can be conducted on campus under high security against deception.
Please note: When exams take place in the pool rooms, you can only access the exam instance from the pool rooms. No parallel remote online exams can be conducted during this time. To avoid overlaps, it is important that you book the ILIAS resource for your online exams in the CMS (you add it to your exam events like a real room). In the ILIAS calendar in CAS Campus you can check if there is already an exam scheduled with ILIAS for the exam date you have chosen.
On our website you will find more information and contact persons about online exams at KIT.
